TDV surveillance monitors Taipei City

Taipei City authorites recently issued a tender project requiring an efficient surveillance system to monitor all corners of the city including onsite LPR and all in real time. The city covers vast areas creating differing and harsh environments due to changing temperatures and lighting conditions. TDV won the contract to carry out the project from amongst all the other tender applications and the job has now been completed successfully.

There are generally two kinds of scenario for Licence Plate Recognition (LPR). In this instance there was a requirement was for usage on the road, and another for utilisation in parking lots. The TDV portfolio includes various devices for both LPR purposes.

In the Taipei city project, TDV provided its Ibox800, an industrial grade device, to perform LPR in real time with a maximum of 4 channels or lanes. The Ibox800 supports 8 channel streaming and includes redundant ethernet with an SFP option.  As the device features event streaming, when an event occurs, the system will have been sending the streaming data from 5 minutes prior to the actual event occurring. This saves greatly on network bandwidth and back-end storage.

The TDV Ibox800 solution is designed with robust hardware including DIN-rail, making it suitable for usage in harsh outdoor environments and according to TDV has been proven to have excellent stable performance; TDV believes that it is these qualities that enabled the company to win the tender for the Taipei City contract.
