Taiwan's national highway turned to Dentec for surveillance

Taipei, Taiwan

The Taiwan National Highway #6 was recently grand-opened and has been in service since the 21st of March 2009. It is built to connect the major cities in between middle west to central of Taiwan.

The #6 National Freeway is in total length 37.6 Km. It consists of various terrain, such as hills, tunnels, bridges, and complex intersections with many other highway systems along the way. Their plan of the video system is not only for traffic flow monitoring, but also to manage the entire road conjunction system. They also wanted the surveillance system to be expandable in higher capability with more advance function in the future.

Based on the limitation and challenges given by the project teams, Dentec's system proposal got the most votes comparted to the other 3 competitors and won the project in 2008. This project has been designed in the Dentec system to manage 188 video channels. In which, there are 112 channels of Dentec's IP-100DN hi-res color cameras (metal housing), and outdoor speed domes (VC-6xx series). For IP transmission, a total 188 units of Dentec's IPS Servers and 7 units of IPD Decoders are used. Via the fiber optical infrastructure, the system can efficiently tele-communicate and transmit into sub- and the central control rooms at almost no delay. In all control terminals, Dentec's professional MSK-keyboards are in use, as they equipped with joysticks for user-friendly operation.

The job was completed and passed strict final inspection in early-March 2009. The chief engineer of highway #6 project, Mr. Alan Wu, said "This is the most efficient solution that I have ever seen and in use so far. The system is working seamless together in excellent performance which is a good protection to the users of the freeway, too." He also expressed". And, we are enjoying using the compact but functional keyboards, as it is a pleasant and handy operation playing with it than using the mouse and PC keyboard for the powerful functions of the system."
