Spectra IV IP high-speed camera dome system featuring H.264

Clovis, CA (USA)

Pelco announces that its new Spectra IV IP high-speed PTZ camera dome system featuring H.264 compression. The Pelco Spectra IV IP technology gives users the flexibility to select MJPEG, MPEG4 or industry-leading H.264 compression. Compared to MPEG4 compression, H.264 dramatically reduces bandwidth consumption and storage requirements while providing superior image quality.
“By adding our new Spectra IP TXB-N cartridge into an existing Spectra IV analogue dome system, customers can utilise IP video with H.264 compression without losing analogue viewing and control,” says Pelco Senior Product Manager, Brian Lane. “Along with H.264 compression quality, Spectra IV's improved 27X and 35X cameras feature better focus capabilities, a new lens for sharper image quality, and frame noise reduction for a cleaner image – all resulting in a better picture than ever for the customer.”

H.264 compression translates into less burden on the network with its much smaller bandwidth requirements. Less drive space is also needed for recording and storing video, and even though the H.264 files are smaller, they have much better image quality than other compression formats.

Spectra IV IP is an ideal network-based video security solution for education, corrections and other campus-based installations. While optimised to work within a Pelco video system solution, Spectra IV IP also offers the benefits of open standards. Pelco recognises that third-party integration matters to many customers and acknowledges that the company is committed to open and integrated solutions.
