Smart City Summit explores world of IoT

Taipei, Taiwan

The 2015 Smart City Summit & Expo organised by Taipei Computer Association (TCA) and sponsored by leading brands and companies, such as Tatung, Chunghwa Telecom, Advancetech, Asus Cloud and the Institute for Information Industry (III) will be embracing the trends and opportunities of IoT, and takes place from the 20th - 23rd January 2015 at the Taipei World Trade Center, in the Nangang Exhibition Hall, Taiwan.

According to the Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute of III, the development of smart cities will eventually become a trillion-dollar business.   With the burgeoning development of global economy, various tasks will be derived from the management of energy, transportation, disaster prevention, environment, education, sanitation, public security and medical service.

To cope with these challenges coming from rapid urbanisation, governments around the world have made every endeavour towards the development of smart cities in recent years. For example, the number of ongoing and activated smart city projects has exceeded 1,000 in numbers worldwide, and is growing at an amazing 20% CAGR.

As a result, TCA has combined the strength of industry leaders to organise the annual exhibition --Smart City Summit & Expo--again at the beginning of year in 2015, making this exhibition one of the most important platforms for the development and exchange of smart cities both cross-strait and in Asia-Pacific regions.

Concurrently, the Innovative Application Awards will be taking place during the exhibition period.  The award is a pioneering work initiated at the 2014 Smart City Expo. It emphasises the innovative field trials provided by local governments and the creative ideas forged during the process, rather than the infrastructure already constructed.
