Raytec appoints new technical director

Ashington, Northumberland (UK)

Mark Wherrett has joined the Raytec team as Technical Director. With a strong history of product innovation in the security industry, Mark will lead Raytec’s global R&D team and deliver continued innovation towards even smarter lighting technologies and cutting edge illuminators.

As a Chartered Engineer, Mark has over 25 years’ experience in the security industry.  Mark’s PhD research into video analytics for CCTV surveillance helped his previous company win a number of product innovation awards including an Ifsec Award and European IT Award.

Mark is also Chairman of the British Security Industry Association’s (BSIA) Technical Group, and in 2014 was made the Deputy Chairman of the CCTV section. An expert on image usability, Mark has worked on the development of industry guidance documents, codes of practice, as well as the BS8495 Code of Practice for Digital CCTV Recording Systems for the Purpose of Image Export to be used as evidence.
