Provideo surveillance helps secure valuable live-stock in transit

Taipei, Taiwan

Provideo surveillance and tracking equipment has been selected to protect valuable homing pigeons during transportation. The prize money in this increasingly popular sport amounts to billions of NT dollars in Taiwan alone and security has become a major issue.

Pigeon racing has become increasingly popular in Asia, especially the countries of China, Pakistan, Philippines, Japan and Taiwan. Pigeons are to transported to a starting point and released from their cages to race back home; their flying time and speed is measured to determine which are the winners in the race for big prizes.

In Taiwan, there are aprox. 2 - 3 million pigeons and there are more racing events here than in any other country in the world today. There are nearly 500,000 people participating in pigeon-racing on the island each year. The prize value for the races annually reaches billions of NT dollars.

As huge money involved for each game, the security in the transporation of pigeons has become a very important issue. The transportation fleet decided to choose the Provideo MVR-100-4BGS/GSM to improve their vehicle security on the move. The MVR-100-4BGS/GSM is a 4Ch video recorder built-in with G-Sensor and GPS positionning to transmit data signals and sites video via GPRS.

The MVR-100-4BGS/GMS DVR also has a battery built-in to allow the central station to continually keep tracking the location of the vehicle even during a power failure. The AVR (automatic voltage regulator) device in the DVR is capable of working at voltage levels of 9 - 36 VDC making it compatible with all kinds of vehicles in the world today. The bundled CMS (central management software) by Provideo helps to supervise max 16 vehicles at a time with continuous recording and tracking on all vehicle footages.

After the system has been installed, other than the theft and loss prevention concerns, this system can also effectively prevent staff and careless drivers from harming those precious pigeons. The Homing Pigeon Racing Association has happily expressed that they can now track the fleet locations at ease by uploading video excerpts from time to time. "The MVR-100-4BGS/GMS DVR is an ideal solution that is suitable for tracking any moving objects and recording video, in applications not only limited to pigeon racing." emphasised Andy Hu, Sales Manager of Provideo.
