When the Chilean miners had been trapped for over two weeks from 5 August 2010, and the rescue team found there was a slim chance of survival underground on 22 August, communication between the rescue team and the trapped miners became the priority. Planet Technology's partner in Chile offered them the Planet IP camera (ICA-H312) and media converter (FT-802S15) to help set up video conferences amongst the rescue team, the family members and the trapped miners to monitor their quality of life and health.

This moment moved the whole world when the initial images were conveyed by the Planet products. In the dark and humid shaft, the IP camera was to provide clear images in the darkness (IR LED). Additionally, in order to ensure the long-distance and high-quality video conferencing, a media converter co-worked with the camera to deliver stable and high-resolution networking. By transmitting immediate interactive video and audio through a two-way audio system, all the people concerned were encouraged by the resulting communication. For over one and a half months, these devices provided the medium that conveyed hope, which was vital for the trapped miners to survive, and that hope in turn spread around the world.

In the initial stages of this important historical rescue, Planet Technology participated by providing some of the most advanced products to aid the rescue, and convey hope to the whole world.
