NICE to enhance security at Beijing's olympic tunnels

Beijing, China

NICE's intelligent video security solutions with content analytics, will be used to enhance the safety and security of commuters by monitoring and alerting security threats in the two tunnels under Beijing's main olympic stadium and the olympic swimming pool in Beijing, named "Bird's Nest" and "Water Cube."

The two tunnels, which run on Da Tun Road and Cheng Fu Road, are each approximately 2 kilometers long with a width at 32m, and are comprised of 8 lanes (4 in each direction).

The NiceVision analytics solutions can be used to address a variety of security and operational needs, such as:

- Vehicle detection: to detect and determine whether there are vehicle parked inside the tunnel, thereby causing a safety threat to all commuters.
- Intrusion detection: to detect unauthorized entry into secured areas.
- Counter flow: to automatically pinpoint vehicles moving in the wrong direction and immediately alert security officers to the possible security threats.
- Vehicle counting: to estimate the number of vehicles passing through the tunnel at any particular point in time, for recognizing traffic congestion and preventing over-crowding.

NiceVision Net offers an enterprise class, scalable video solution. It offers flexibility to be tailored to fit any customer need, whether as an open solution to be fully integrated with a variety of third party edge devices and security management applications, or as a complete, end to end offering. Its high availability architecture, supported by unique features, such as patent pending Zero Points of Failure encoder redundancy, ensures non-stop surveillance under any condition for mission critical applications.

The NiceVision Analytics portfolio is comprised of field-proven video content analytics applications. NiceVision Analytics is integrated with the NiceVision ControlCenter management application, providing important decision-making information, leveraging its inherent real-time recording and review capabilities, and data-driven access for enhanced scenario reconstruction. This turns NiceVision into a decision support system, so that security personnel do not just detect an incident, but also proactively make the right decision, on time, for savings in time and costs.

This latest order follows on the recent selection of NICE to provide video security solutions China's Ministry of Rail, for three lines, the high-speed rail-line from Hefei to Wuhan, the Qing Zang rail -connecting Lhasa in Tibet to Germu in Qinghai, and the Beijing-Tianjin inter-city passenger line- the country's first high-speed passenger rail service; as well as by Beijing Metro for more than 20 stations of the city's subway system, in preparation for the 2008 Olympics.
