New media converter for long range efficiency

Hong Kong

OT Systems has recently unveiled its new media converters, ET8181-S and ET161161-S, to meet the market requirements of high performance in long-distance transmission.
As security projects continue to increase in scale and complexity, system integrators face the issue of enhancing efficiency over longer distances. To answer these market expectations, OT Systems has designed a new series of media converters, the ET8181-S/ ET161161-S.  This series of media converters not only extends transmission distance, but also maintains performance, flexibility and reliability throughout the transmission system.

The ET8181-S is an 8-channel media converter while the ET161161-S supports 16-channels. Both models are in 1U rack-mount outline and feature the ability to convert 10/100Base-TX to 100Base-FX SFP. The copper port of each unit supports full/half duplex, and auto-negotiation mode in transmission. And, each of them is auto-MDI/MDIX supported.

In the application diagram shown, each IP camera connects to a one-channel media converter (ET1111 or ET1111P-X-MT) to extend the transmission distance to the control centre.  At the control room, an ET161161-S media converter in a 1U rack-mount offers a compact solution to manage up to 16 channels of signals transmitted from remote sites.

The ET8181-S/ET-161161-S media converters support single-mode or multi-mode SFP fibre module operation.  This new media converter series is designed as a plug-and-play device to minimize any problems during system installation.
