New firmware for VioStor NVR series

Taipei, Taiwan

QNAP Security has released the firmware 2.7.0 for its VioStor network video recorder (NVR) series. The new firmware supports a number of new functions including multi-channel playback, automatic on-server camera search, and new camera models from Vivotek, GANZ, Toshiba, ACTi, Axis etc.

The highlighted new feature 'multi-channel playback' of the new firmware enables the users to play the video recordings of different camera channels simultaneously on the web-based interface. They can also select to play the video at different speed. No extra software utility is required. In addition, the digital zoom function is now available for more flexible playback, especially for megapixel IP cameras. A new monitoring UI is provided for live video monitoring, digital zoom, easy drag and drop function, smart control of PTZ and speed dome cameras, and real-time alarm notification. QNAP has also added a list of new IP cameras from Sony, Panasonic, Vivotek, Axis, ACTi, and Toshiba IP cameras to the compatibility list of the VioStor series.

"QNAP VioStor series is renowned for its high performance and abundant top-class features for monitoring, playback, and recording. The firmware 2.7.0 brings our users further convenience with the system operation," said Jacky Cheng, senior product manager from QNAP. "Besides, the green VioStor series are built on Linux OS and the power consumption is only 18W for 1-bay NVR, 30W for 2-bay NVR, and 80W for 5-bay NVR. Comparing to PC-based surveillance system which consumes about 350W during operation, QNAP VioStor series is obviously more energy-saving than the PC-based solutions."
