New concept of PoE extender over coax cable
Taipei, Taiwan
Before understanding why Enconn's PoE extender over coax technology can bring great benefit to IP surveillance systems, it is interesting to note a few points about PoE. Just as the name describes, it is a technology allowing the Ethernet network to carry data and electrical power to Ethernet devices. PoE applications include security and access control such as PoE network security cameras, IP telephones, wireless LAN access points, RF ID readers, computing and where an Ethernet device has been applied. The one that provides power is called PSE. Most PSE capability is built in switch or router. Sometimes, a PoE injector will be used as PSE when applied on non-PoE switch to provide PoE source function. The Ethernet device that uses PSE to power is called PD equipment.
When a PoE extender over coax is applied to an IP security camera network, there are various advantages and benefits to the system and user. Firstly, it increases the PoE coverage from 100m to 300m and allows more freedom for the layout of the network. Secondly, it allows higher power throughput to be available at the IP network camera side, it also makes outdoor IP security camera installations very easy, and it maintains a simple, reliable, and robust PoE link to the IP camera network. Finally, it allows a low maintenance cost for the IP surveillance network with high power throughput of >30W at PD equipment for a distance up to 300m.
IP camera installations using the Enconn PoE extender coax cable will not require a PoE repeater in the middle of cable, it making outdoor IP camera installations easier than ever as installers need not find a location to set up repeaters with an outdoor enclosure. The concept of PoE connection has never be so simple and practically feasible with the added potential for lower maintenance costs for IP network surveillance than ever before.
