Navtech Extreme technology for extreme environments

Oxford, UK

At Ifsec this week, Navtech Radar is showcasing its new Advanceguard AGS1600 Extreme radar - specifically developed to cope with the environmental and climate conditions found in oil & gas exploration and production, along side the company's advanced control software suite, Witness2.
Keith Chapman, Head of Global Sales at Navtech Radar, says, “This year we are promoting our airport site surveillance technology on the stand, whilst also running live scheduled demonstrations from our land rover parked near the entrance to the NEC.

We have 2 new major products for Ifsec visitors this year. First of all, our new ASG1600, Extreme has been specifically developed, to cope with the harsh environmental conditions, prevalent in the oil & gas industry. The ASG1600 Extreme operates within a temperature range from -40°C to +65 °C. There is also an additional option to upgrade the Radar to an explosion proof version.

Especially for the Middle East, we have developed a solution which is entirely powered by solar energy, which has been tested in the UAE over the last few months, and to which we’re already experiencing a high level of interest.

Radar is an ideal solution for the surveillance of large areas such as airports, Navtech having completed several airport projects over the past year – with Bristol Airport in the UK installing and commissioning Navtech Radar in July 2012. The recent diamond heist in Brussels airport, coupled with the ever changing global security threats, has resulted in a noticeable increase in the number of enquiries for Navtech Radar and software solution. The Advanceguard security surveillance solution is truly an ideal choice for any large scale site, as it can also cope with adverse environmental condition. Wind, snow, rain, fog, or sand has very little effect, and so does not influence its ability to detect any potential threats - whereas other technologies based on visual images would often fail to detect.”

The Advanceguard solution enables sites under surveillance to be divided into multiple zones with varying threat and detection levels, identifying and classifying the movement of multiple targets within the range of the radar which are in turn recorded within an audit log. The benefit of such analytical software means the system can be configured to manage - and greatly reduce – the number of false or nuisance alarms. While still giving security the best possible advanced warning and tracking of genuine, real time intrusion within a site and or the approaches to its perimeter.
