Moreton Bay Systems signs distribution agreement for elevator camera

Brisbane, Australia

Australian Security Camera technology innovator, Moreton Bay Systems (MBS), has signed a global distribution agreement with Draka Elevator Products - a division of Draka Cableteq based in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, USA, for its new Elevator Security Camera. It will be marketed worldwide under the name Draka Cam.

Draka Cam has been developed by Moreton Bay Systems based on its low power digital security camera technology. The unique 'wire-free' design provides a far less expensive alternative to CCTV systems for elevators and gives greater clarity of still images. The ultra low power video processing technology also enables it to operate as a standalone surveillance camera for up to nine months on its internal re-chargeable battery. These features make Draka Cam the ideal solution for new and existing elevators.

The Draka Cam technology can captures digital still images at varying frame rates depending on the particular application or environment. To achieve this Moreton Bay Systems has developed its own video processing engine to do it at very low power levels.

"When developing the Camera technology, our goal was to have a product that was not just technically advanced, but also a product that could be implemented into a host of applications. The Elevator Camera is one of those application areas where our technology gives substantial benefits" says David Hill, CEO, Moreton Bay Systems. Based on this core technology, Moreton Bay Systems has now developed 18 different applications over the last 3 years.

"Moreton Bay Systems is exactly the kind of supplier Draka wants. They are well managed, they are supportive of our marketing efforts, and they have very innovative products. We look forward to our continued partnership in 2008 and beyond" says Douglas Babcock of Draka Elevator Products.
