Merger results in ASSA Abloy ITG formation

Through the merger of ACG Identification Technologies, Novacard do Brasil, Omnikey, Sokymat Group and VisionCard under the umbrella of Assa Abloy ITG, a major provider of products and services for secure identification is being formed.

With the broad offering and combined know-how, the new company the company says it will be able to better meet system integrators' future needs with regards to interoperability, flexibility, convergence, reliability and standards. The company is showcasing the new portfolio in November 2006 at Cartes in Paris.
Assa Abloy ITG has one of the most comprehensive offers of contactless components such as cards, tags, reader modules and complete readers. Within seven business segments the products and services will be bundled with regard to distinct solutions and markets. The business segments and offering
include:
- Government: Inlays and readers for governments worldwide planning to roll-out eDocument programs such as ePassports, eNational ID cards and eDriver's licences
- Public Transport: Contactless cards and readers for system integrators who need to develop forward-looking public transport solutions based on RFID technology
- Financial Transactions: Cards, customized form factors and reader components for contactless and/or EMV compliant payment applications
- IT & Corporate ID: Smart card readers for contact and contactless cards as well as chip sets and reader boards for OEM in the corporate security market, paired with support in the area of contactless smart cards
- Access & Security: Printed or white cards, prelaminates, key fobs, labels, and wristbands for loyalty, POS, leisure & pleasure, and access control applications
- Industry & Logistics: Wide range of RFID transponders for track & trace in the industrial and logistics business, as well as general advice on e.g. customisation and readers
- Food & Animal: RFID transponders for embedding into animals or food items to enable identification and tracking systems
The newly formed company employs over 800 people worldwide, drives innovation in three R&D centres and manufactures components in global manufacturing sites in Europe, Asia and Latin America.
