Loxal aims to make door keys obsolete

Sevenoaks, Kent (UK)

Loxal has launched a range of digital lock converters which offer key-less access control to almost any entrance door. Temporarily installed in minutes, these lock converters feature Loxal's user-friendly IDACS technology providing a detailed audit trail at each property in an attractive and universal unit.
This latest Loxal product offers innovation in digital access control for residential and commercial properties. The lock converters adapt both Chubb-type and Europrofile multi-point locks from key operation to digital access control in a quick reversible retro-fit. They provide user-friendly access to properties without the inconvenience and costs associated with key handling. For repairs and maintenance contractors it is estimated that 15% of operational time is wasted managing property keys and gaining access. The new lock converters now offer these productivity and efficiency benefits to social landlords, contractors, domiciliary carers, estate and letting agents, student and nurses accommodation and the like. They also have applications in IT server rooms, offices and lift motor rooms where a detailed report of the time and date of each individual’s entry and exit is beneficial.

Complementing the wide range of keysafes, security doors and alarm systems offered by Loxal, the lock converters are part of a universal key-less access control solution for property managers. The IDACS technology - Intelligent Digital Access Control System - enables clients to gain entry to any Loxal secured property utilising their personal six-digit PIN code. A number of coding levels can be programmed which allow universal unrestricted access, duration limited and property specific access or emergency 24-hour only access. This offers great flexibility and user-friendly operation whilst ensuring that the highest level of security and accountability are maintained.

The lock converters can be temporarily installed as they require no further fixings or damage to the door leaf. The original lock can be easily reinstated if required. However, the very long battery life of the lock converter - approximately 3-years in normal use - gives the option of permanent installation.

For discrete security and user-friendly operation, the Loxal CCTV wireless alarm system can be integrated into the lock converter operation. This allows the 24-hour monitored alarm system to be armed or dis-armed simply by locking or un-locking the entrance door with an IDACS code. This eliminates false alarms and removes the problem of separate alarm codes and separate keypads.

Dan Delaney, Loxal Operations Director says, ‘The digital lock converter is a radical innovation from Loxal offering keyless access control to almost any property. The operational benefits of our IDACS technology has been demonstrated in our current keysafe range and these new products remove the requirement for property keys to be retained on site. With world-wide opportunities, we are discussing applications for our technology with facilities managers, elderly care providers, social landlords and entrance door manufacturers’.
