With the acquisition, Interoute takes over Comendo’s network competencies, clients and employees, and strengthens its position as operator of Europe's largest cloud services platform.

The board’s strategy succeeded, resulting in the sale of two business units in the last ten days. Comendo AS announced the sale of its telecom business unit to ipvision on 16 November, and has now agreed for Interoute to purchase its network business. Both sales are a direct result of the strategy laid down by the board one and a half years ago.

“This is a great day for Comendo Network and for all of our hardworking employees,” says Jesper Aagaard, who until now headed Comendo Network. “This is a recognition of the achievements of our Network division and its employees, and of the attractive client portfolio that is now transferred to Interoute. Given Interoute’s ambitions to strengthen its position within the Nordics market, the acquisition of Comendo Network is an ideal move.”

Jesper Aagaard will now follow his clients and co-workers to Interoute, where he will assume the role of Country Manager of Interoute Denmark.

Interoute takes over all client agreements, which include DSB, the Danish state-owned railway company, Saxo Bank, the global investment bank and Dong Energy, the Danish energy company. Since all Comendo Network employees will move to Interoute, service of existing clients will continue uninterrupted.

“The sale of Comendo Network is part of the transformation of Comendo that the board initiated in 2011,” says Comendo CEO Gert Rieder. “In just ten days we have managed to complete two big sales, and we now look forward to setting all sails for the development of our security business which is headed for a promising future. We are going to sharpen our focus and strengthen our position in the Danish and international markets as one of the most significant suppliers of cloud-based IT security.”

Comendo Security began developing cloud-based IT security solutions in 2002, and continues to be a pioneer in the field. Comendo Security is now one of the largest suppliers of cloud-based e-mail security in the Nordic region.
