The Hiqview HIQ-5550 is an outdoor vandal-proof dome camera equipped with a 1/3.2" CMOS sensor with a 3-10.5 (at F1.4) vari-focal lens designed around an all-IP architecture. Its images are compressed into three formats: H.264 / JPEG / MPEG-4 to support multiple resolutions of 2592x1944 / 2048x1536 /1920x1080 / 1280x720 / 640x480 / 320x240 optional. The HIQ-5550 is able to generate effective quality images at a maximum resolution of 2592x1944 (5 megapixel) at 20fps.

The HIQ-5550 is accommodated in a robusted IP-66 weatherproof and IK-10 vandalproof housing for the high security required for some outdoor venues. With 12 units of 5φ and 2 units of high power IR LEDs, this surveillance camera is capable of generating invisible IR illlumination for distances of up to 20 metres.  D-WDR (digital wide dynamic range) and DNR (digital noise reduction) functions are also incorporated.  The D-WDR is to help ensure crystal clear images are reproduced in all conditions, such as at strong back-light, dim light, and dark environments; the DNR function can not only make images clear but also reduces video file size for transmission and storage.

PoE technology enables power and internet connection to be provided via the same cable. Therefore, not only are power outlets no longer needed, but more importantly, it saves on space requirements when installing the surveillance system, and the cost is reduced sharply.  The network deployment of the HIQ-5550 is designed to be simple and quick. With the installation tool, Hiqview offers users the ability to easily locate devices that are already connected to an intranet or to the internet and so avoids complex network settings. The camera also comes with the powerful Hiqview Vision software that is able to manage a system of up to 64 IP cameras from the users' PC.
