Flexible full HD IP cameras for retail applications

Taipei, Taiwan

When monitoring small objects in a large area like food courts, parking lots, and pedestrian traffic areas, megapixel resolution cameras are the ideal choice for delivering wide area coverage and detailed image quality. Etrovision's EV8580U with full HD resolution (1080p) performs real-time, live monitoring and easily captures moving objects at low bit rates without sacrificing detail.
With an easy to use Fujinon 3.6X varifocal lens, the EV8580U full HD camera not only offers brilliant colour and clarity, but provides the flexibility of a wide angle view or the ability to focus on a specific area which is critical for identifying theft and other suspicious activity. 24HR monitoring is achieved with embedded IR illumination, day & night mode, motion detection and vandal-proof durability. The EV8580U also comes with ROI (Region Of Interest) functionality which allows retailers to focus on specific areas while minimising network and storage requirements.

Aspect ratios are an important consideration when choosing an IP camera. A Full HD camera (16:9) can capture more of an area of interest than a 4:3 2MP camera, and can possibly even match the coverage of a 4:3 5MP camera. A 16:9 display ratio provides greater lateral coverage which is often more desirable; this is the benefit of full HD resolution. So while 4:3 IP cameras may have equivalent or higher resolutions, the area of coverage is potentially inferior to 16:9 IP cameras. Not only does this have implications for viewing, but also impacts network and storage requirements. In addition, the 4:3 aspect ratio is quickly becoming antiquated; today’s televisions and monitors conform to HDTV standards. Subsequently, video from 4:3 cameras is cumbersome on today’s monitors. Etrovision’s new generation of full HD products work seamlessly with HDTV products.

The EV8580U full HD IP camera is suitable for many applications. Chain stores, parking facilities and property management can integrate IP surveillance cameras with applications such as alarm systems, acess control, LPR, and POS to generate new uses and value for their operations.
