Fingertec helps secure Philippines National Grid Corporation

Diliman, Quezon City, Philippines

The National Grid Corporation or NGCP in the Philippines recently had a new substation built, or "remote site" built. It contains newly developed buildings to be used as offices and facilities to manage and operate their substation, all of which need to be adequately protected with an efficient security solution. All the controls, communication equipment and security devices are to be located in this building.
A fully private corporation, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, also known as NGCP, won the franchise to operate and maintain the country's transmission network in the biggest government auction conducted in efforts to reform the local power sector. As the system operator of the power grid, NGCP balances the demand and supply of electricity to serve efficiently all of its customers such as generators, private distribution utilities, electric cooperatives, etc.

Already having a branch installed with access control and time attendance systems in Singapore, the NGCP first approached Fingertec partner Eurogel, who then consulted Calvelo Engineered Systems, requesting a similar product for NGCP's new building. After some inquiry, Calvelo found that the Fingertec R2 would be a suitable solution for the company, as it is even more advanced than the one installed by their branch in Singapore.

The company also required that the terminals be HID card compatible and that they came with a comprehensive time attendance and access control software. After sealing the deal for the project, Calvelo Engineered Systems installed 32 units of R2 in the new building of the NGCP. As the areas secured by the R2 is of high security, all the R2 units were set to receive 2-3 methods for verification depending on the priority of the secured area. The TCMS V2 software also allows extensive time attendance and access control customisation and management, and inter-branch centralisation, demonstrating that the Fingertec system was indeed an ideal solution for the NGCP.
