Dycon launches new Global version of Duet

Mountain Ash, South Glamorgan (UK)

Dycon, a UK leading independent manufacturer of advanced technology communication systems and switched-mode power supplies, is launching a new Global version of its well-established Duet range of secure dual communication products at Intersec Dubai from 19th to 21st January 2014.

Duet-Global connects remote premises to monitoring centres/control rooms in virtually every country and is suitable for the transmission of alarm and change-of-state signals from security, fire and a wide variety of industrial monitoring systems.

Aimed at existing Alarm Receiving Centres wanting to upgrade their security from conventional digital communicators, companies with 24hr control rooms who want to expand their activities and engineering operations who need to accurately and reliably monitor technical conditions at remote sites, Dycon offers a complete turnkey package that includes the receivers and associated software for the control rooms, Duet transmitters for use at each site and full training.

Duet-Global transmits alarm signals to an Alarm Receiving Centre/control room using any of the following transmission media; GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) data network ; telephone (PSTN - Public Switched Telephone Network - via a control panel); internet (LAN - Local Area Network); or radio internet (GPRS - General Packet Radio System).

Most conventional communication systems rely on single path transmission where signals are lost if the path is interrupted or broken, Dycon’s Duet system utilises any two entirely separate paths from the list above, each monitoring the other, so that the Alarm Receiving Centre is immediately notified if a single path goes down, automatically switching to the remaining path thus ensuring that alarm signals will always have the optimum chance of being received.

Installation at the protected premises is quick and simple and can be carried by most competent technicians. Four inputs are provided for connection to existing alarm panels or direct to monitoring devices such as flow switches and HVAC sensors; four outputs are also provided which can even be remotely operated through SMS on a mobile phone.

The end-user’s peace of mind has been the main driver in designing the Duet-Global and its advanced features include high speed transmission on GPRS path, GSM communication (GPRS/GSM Data/SMS), polling through GPRS - this ensures high speed and low cost and it is compatible with most existing standard communicating alarm panels. According to Dycon it is also perfect for retro fitting Supervision of the PSTN & GSM in that you always know that your system is working for you.

The Duet-Global also reports telephone or GPRS failure in seconds and it is compatible with Contact-ID, Fast Format 8 and 16 and SIA. It is also SMS contact ID protocol and SMS text compatible, ensuring that the communication is always there between your alarm panel and the Alarm Receiving Centre.

At Intersec Dubai, Dycon will be aiming to seek new Duet-Global operational partners for the Middle East, South Asia and Africa.
