Dali thermal imaging aids against Ebola

Dali, a manufacturer of thermal imaging solutions in China, is launching its latest development, the DM60-W system plus a handheld TE-W thermal detector.  Monitoring human body temperature and taking quarantine measures for those detected with fever will help prevent the spread of the Ebola virus and will indicate which people need treatment for their symptoms.

Ebola cases and deaths have provoked a severe panic worldwide. The Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) is a disease of humans and other primates caused by an ebolavirus. Symptoms start two days to three weeks after contracting the virus, with a fever, sore throat, muscle pain and headaches. Typically,vomiting, diarrhea and rash follow, along with decreased functioning of the liver and kidneys. Around this time, affected people may begin to bleed both within the body and externally. The disease has a high risk of death due to stroke, myocardial infarction, hypovolemic shock, and even multiple organ failure that result in a death rate of between 50% and 90% of those infected with the virus.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the contagious, haemorrhagic fever was first discovered in eastern Guinea in March and has since killed more than 2,400 people, making it the worst Ebola outbreak in history. Ebola spreads between humans by direct contact with infected blood, bodily fluids or organs, or indirectly through contact with contaminated environments.

The DM60-W IR thermal imaging system is specially designed for quarantine stations at airports and harbour ports. It consists of a handheld thermal detection device, the TE-W which performs to a high accuracy of ±0.3℃ on the human skin surface. The Dali thermal imaging detection system has already been widely applied in hospitals, port authorities, schools, and cities’ quarantine stations all over the country in China. Dali believes that this efficient and high performance DM60-W system with the TE-W solution will contribute the same to applications and requirements around the globe.
