Cyberlocks protect some of the world's most valuable secrets

Corvallis, Or

Gene Tools LLC, an Oregon-based biotech research firm, has chosen the Cyberlock system of electronic lock cylinders, programmable keys, and smart padlocks to address their vulnerabilities, as the management had valid concerns about industrial espionage from within and outside the company.
The company's research products such as molecules of redesigned genetic material are in high demand throughout the world. The material is being used by researchers to help identify the function of some of the tens of thousands of human genes whose codes have been identified but whose purpose is as yet undiscovered.

The new security measures involved the installation of the Cyberlock electronic locks throughout their facilities including the doors to labs and on cabinets where research notebooks are kept. With the Cyberlock system in place, the company controls and monitors individual access to each lab. They also electronically segment access so no one chemist or biologist can access all of the research data before patents have been filed. Cyberlock is providing a high degree of security for some of the world’s smallest, most valuable secrets.
