The Crystal smart card reader is designed to create a perfect combination of reading technologies and communication choices, and it is optimally designed for access control applications in commercial, hospitals, universities, sports stadiums, retail, finance, high security applications and residential areas. Its elegant yet rugged design, is designed for both indoor and outdoor applications and available with a touch-screen or a mechanical keypad option.

The Crystal reader can read CSN or encrypted protected data from 13.56 MHz contactless smart cards, utilising key diversification and mutual authentication routines. It can be equipped with one or more SAM modules for secure data encryption when encrypted authentication is needed. The Crystal series supports dual authentication of identity (secure level) which combines contactless card / NFC/ Bluetooth Smartphone presentation, and the entry of personal identification number (PIN) through the integrated 12-key mechanical or touch keypad.

The Crystal offers universal compatibility with most access control systems, which provide multiple communication interfaces inbuilt in the same product from weigand 26-128 to RS485 OSDP; this offers universal compatibility with most well-known access control systems. To protect against tampering, the tamper alarm feature can activate a local output on a reader to transmit as a command according to actual protocol specification; this will prevent manipulation and provides a tamper alarm if an attempt should be made to split or break it away from the wall.

Civintec's unique technical platform and experience in this field makes cost effective customisation possible and the ability to deliver customised new products in an efficient time to market manner. Taking this strategy, means that Civintec will offer the Cystal smart card reader with a personal brand logo as an OEM or ODM.  Within the customisation service, it is possible to integrate the client’s protocol into the Crystal reader, add in new functions/features, and even incorporate a new design for the PCB hardware, ID housing, and produce a prototype of the finished product.
