CCTV night-time test was held by Raytec

Northumberland, UK

The recent night-time CCTV testing organised by Raytec was a great success. Attendees to the tests witnessed infra-red illumination up to 350m and white-light illumination up to 200m with the latest technology SMT LED illuminators from Raytec.

The trials were held over two evenings at Raytec's test facilities in Northumberland, a 350m long golf driving range engulfed in darkness. Raytec's infra-red and white-light illuminators were set-up in one booth with cameras from Baxall, Covi, Dallmeier, Ganz, Ikegami, Samsung, Sanyo and Vista set up in a different booths. Attendees were amazed to see the infra-red illuminating distances up to 350m whilst for many it was their first look at professional white-light illumination allowing perfect colour pictures at night.

"We are delighted with the night-time tests. We have a fantastic test site which allows installers and consultants to trial the performance of their CCTV system in total darkness before putting it into practise in the field. We were able to illuminate an owl on its nightly hunt at a distance of 350m and I think all attendees were impressed by the distances possible with Raytec infra-red working with current camera technology. It was also important to show people the performance of our LED white-light illuminators which many are seeing for the first time" says Shaun Cutler of Raytec.
