Castel unveils IP AV intercom monitor

Great Notley, Essex (UK)

Latest IP audio video intercom monitor from Castel

Castel has released its first IP audio video intercom monitor designed for small to medium-sized offices and service industry buildings.

The latest addition to the Xellip range of intercom access and audio video products, the XE-Monitor features a 7” TFT touchscreen. As a full-IP solution, the monitor maximises user convenience by allowing remote observation and operation from any internet browser through an embedded web server.

Installers will also appreciate the convenience of being able to configure the monitors off-site, which benefits customers by reducing call-out charges and the disruption associated with visits by engineers.

The XE-Monitor uses a single network cable for managing audio, video and data, as well as for the power supply via PoE. The build quality of the TFT screen optimises the image clarity from colour digital video cameras within Xellip audio-video entry stations on the exterior of the building. The XE-Monitor can be desk or wall-mounted and will typically be used in reception areas or in the control room at larger sites.

Potential applications of the product include any small-to-medium location with a reception, such as offices, hospital clinics, pharmacies, hotel foyers, student accommodation and sheltered housing.

According to Castel, the functionality of the XE-Monitor is unrivalled in the professional intercom sector. Significant operations that can be performed by the site supervisor include audio adjustments covering ambient noise reduction, noise detection and configuration of dual-tone multi-frequency (DTMF) commands. Supervisors can also validate or cancel video codecs and configure video bandwidth.

The unit complies with European legislation on disability discrimination by ensuring that the interface with related entry stations meets the needs of users with visual impairment, hearing impairment or reduced mobility. Installer and end-user convenience are priorities for Castel and ongoing software updates for the XE-Monitor can be simplified by automated file transfer protocol.

Stuart Hibberd, Castel’s Sales Director, said: “We’re always quick to respond to market demands and have incorporated finger-swipe technology from the smartphone and tablet sector into the design of this unit. The monitor is a significant addition to our professional audio video intercom offerings, which include entry stations and master stations with additional access control options. Castel gives users a complete site-wide solution, but our commitment to non-proprietary open systems means the XE-Monitor can be integrated with devices from any other vendors using session initiation protocol (SIP), as well as common audio and video codecs.”
