Bosch introduces new fixed thermal imaging security cameras

Munich, Germany

Bosch is introducing a new range of fixed thermal IP security cameras for outdoor use.
A full 24/7 solution combining outstanding thermal image quality with Bosch advanced IVA (Intelligent Video Analysis), these security cameras deliver the same high level of performance regardless of lighting conditions. They are also unaffected by dense smoke or adverse weather such as heavy fog or snow, and work in complete darkness.

Optimised for thermal imaging, the superior IVA helps in object detection to ensure operators have advanced warning of suspicious activities or hazardous situations. It also helps to show behaviour patterns, so operators can work out what is going on in a scene and take appropriate action quickly. The security camera can see over large areas and across long distances and, unlike conventional security cameras, can expose people hiding in shadows or camouflaged against the background.

The Bosch thermal cameras have a broad set of built-in IVA features including motion detection, trajectory tracking, loitering and more. Digital image processing greatly improves security and safety, supporting security personnel with a powerful and efficient event detection and alarm system. Events are immediately displayed. The data can also be stored for later review with Forensic Search from Bosch. IVA captures comprehensive details of recorded scenes, helping operators find any event – even those not originally set up as alerts.

Making temperature differences of 50 millikelvin or less visible, the thermal security camera combines dedicated image processing with noise reduction to ensure clear, highly accurate image conversion and display. It uses a VOx (Vanadium Oxide) focal plane sensor array with 320 x 240 pixels. Tri-streaming capability enables the camera to transmit two H.264 video compression streams and one JPEG stream simultaneously. Further flexibility comes from multicasting, internet streaming and iSCSI recording support.

A microSD card slot makes the camera a self-contained solution, offering the convenience of local storage with increased reliability in the event of network failure. Operators can move quickly to the area of interest thanks to dedicated Pan/Tilt-head control.

There is a choice of four lenses covering both narrow and wide fields of view. The camera suits an almost unlimited range of applications but is especially useful for ports and traffic monitoring, border control and homeland security, perimeter surveillance, power plants and industrial installations.
