Avigilon recognised by Frost & Sullivan

Mountain View, California (USA)

Based on its recent analysis of the video surveillance market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes Avigilon with the 2010 Global Frost & Sullivan Award for New Product Innovation.

Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has demonstrated innovation in developing a product and leveraged leading edge technologies to offer value-added features while increasing the ROI for customers. Avigilon Control Center 4.0 was chosen for the award for its open, modular design which offers support for third-party IP cameras and analog encoders, resulting in an enterprise-class network video management software (NVMS) platform for building hybrid systems and preserving existing assets cost effectively.

"Avigilon undertakes continuous product development and improvement to deliver the most effective and innovative HD surveillance solutions that can lead to increased investigation accuracy and more rapid resolution," says Frost & Sullivan Industry Analyst Dilip Sarangan. "With continued R&D spent each year, Avigilon continues to capture new vertical markets and opportunities by expanding Avigilon Control Center NVMS with additional features such as the HD Point-of-Sale transaction module, expanded alarm management, and a novel interface for managing the layout of large sites."

With the addition of each new feature, Avigilon keeps tabs on the system's ease-of-use and powerful interface, while ensuring that each feature is designed in accordance with the unique needs of HD and megapixel surveillance, according to the company. Campuses, transportation systems, healthcare providers, public venues, municipalities, and manufacturing sites with security, safety validation, and compliance requirements use Avigilon Control Center 4.0 to aid evidence collection.

Out of hundreds of candidates, the Avigilon Control Center 4.0 was chosen for the award, judged in part by the inclusion of the following unique features:

Intuitive and easy-to-use network video management software (NVMS) that delivers complete situational awareness and indisputable detail, resulting in faster response times, reduced investigation times, and providing a tool for compliance validation.

JPEG 2000 compression standard dramatically increases image capture quality, while its advanced high definition stream management (HDSM) makes Avigilon Control Center 4.0 a powerful and efficient network video management platform.

HDSM sends only the requested portions of the entire data capture to monitoring stations. A single megapixel camera can replace many lower-resolution units, resulting in reduced installation labor and materials costs. It provides immediate savings in transmission bandwidth and reduces costs by requiring less-powerful workstations.

The only purpose-built open HD NVMS in the market, Avigilon Control Center 4.0 offers IP network video surveillance by allowing users to manage the information generated by HD and multi-megapixel cameras.

The open platform enables the redundant recording of surveillance video from all cameras to multiple NVRs for a complete live mirror of all data.

Audio recording, which allows users to record audio streams and associate the recorded audio with its corresponding video, providing security professionals with an extra data stream to validate security.

Supports data from any resolution or camera technology. Owing to a modular, open architecture, designers can engineer Avigilon systems to utilize existing security investments and plan a cost-effective migration path to full HD.

"Avigilon's fastest growing market segment comprises end users that are dissatisfied with the quality of their installed surveillance systems and want network video management software that offers a cost-effective migration to HD surveillance," observes Sarangan. "Avigilon engages these end users through certified systems integrators equipped with online design tools, training curriculum and an awards system based upon providing superior service, in order to communicate the value that a purpose-built HD surveillance system can offer to improve investigations and reduce cost of operations."

"Competing on the global stage along with some of the most recognized brands and their associated technologies, it is an honor to be considered for the Frost and Sullivan Best Practice study," said Dave Tynan, Vice President for Global Sales and Marketing at Avigilon. "The study validates the user's need for an effective HD network video management solution."

Frost & Sullivan's Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis, and extensive secondary research in order to identify best practices in the industry.
