Abus enters HD SDI market

Muhlhausen, Germany

Abus Security-Center has started to operate in the emerging market of HD-SDI technology and will continually build upon extensive product portfolio of HD recorders and cameras during the course of the year.
This technology represents the logical development of analogue technology – from conventional standard resolution to genuine HD video images.

The company began with a HD-SDI 4-channel recorder as well as a HD-SDI standard camera and a mini-tube camera, other dome and tube cameras, and storage solutions are due to follow throughout the year.

HD-SDI cameras from Abus enable digital video with HD-1080p resolution at full frame rate. Here the data is transmitted uncompressed via conventional coaxial cables. Consequently, one HD-SDI camera is able to take the place of up to five conventional cameras. Compared to 720p (1280 x 720), the 1080p (1920 x 1080) shows twice as many details and even more than four times as much resolution as compared to 4CIF (704 x 576). Specially designed for the outside is the Abus HD-SDI mini outdoor camera. With its IR-LEDs it stands out with its night vision feature and compact mini-housing.

The first HD-SDI-capable recorder from Abus features four channels with H.264 codec: this enables real time recordings with HD resolution of 1080p for each connected camera. The installation and operation of HD-SDI components comply with conventional analog surveillance systems: cameras and recorders are easily connected by plug and play.
