Detektor names the products of the year in Alarm & Detection

Stockholm, Sweden

Optex TXI Series from Optex, AOD 100 from Alarmtech and Superior Hub G3 Jeweller from Ajax Systems have been nominated for the Detektor International Award.

Alarmtech, Optex and Ajax Systems are the three manufacturers whose products have been selected by Detektor magazine as this year’s finalists in the Alarm & Detection category.

The Detektor International Award (DI Award) ceremony will take place on 20 October during Skydd – the Nordic region’s largest security exhibition – at Stockholmsmässan (Stockholm International Fairs) in Sweden. The ceremony will reveal which manufacturer receives the top prize – the Best Product Award – and which two will receive the Innovative Achievement Award.

Four categories

The Detektor International Award is presented in four categories: Alarm & Detection, ID & Access Control, Video Surveillance and IoT & Security Solutions. In each category, three products or solutions are nominated – based on criteria such as innovation, customer benefit and market relevance – which means a total of twelve finalists.

"In total, this year we have had around 30 interesting products and solutions under scrutiny, which we have then narrowed down to the 12 finalists. Eight of them will be deservedly awarded the Innovative Achievement Award, while the four first prize winners will be equally deservedly rewarded with the Best Product Award", comments Lennart Alexandrie, editor-in-chief of Detektor magazine.

Manufacturers cannot self-nominate

The Detektor International Award is an independent award that has been presented by Detektor magazine since 2000. Manufacturers cannot apply to have their products nominated. Instead, the candidates are selected by Detektor's editorial team based on ongoing international news coverage and the editorial team's presence at leading security trade fairs around the world. The selection includes products and solutions that have been launched on the international market during the past twelve months.

Jury Votes

The final winners will be decided by Detektor's international jury, which consists of the magazine and its editorial team. The first prize winner in each category will be awarded the Best Product Award and receive a unique glass sculpture, designed by Bertil Vallien. The remaining two products will be awarded the Innovative Achievement Award.

Yesterday we presented the nominees in the ID & Access Control category, today we present the nominees in the Alarm & Detection category:

Product: AOD 100
Company: Alarmtech

AOD 100 is a contact for detecting opening doors, openable windows and hatches. It is intended to replace magnetic contacts in applications where high security is required. Unlike the traditional permanent magnetic contacts, the AOD 100 uses a dynamic and modulated magnetic field. The contact consists of a master and slave unit that communicate via encrypted digital questions and answers. which enables secure identification and provides strong protection against manipulation and sabotage. At the same time, the solution is polarity-independent and requires only two wires, which simplifies installation. AOD 100 is developed to meet the high security requirements of EN 50131-2-6 Grade 4.

Product: Optex TXI Series
Company: Optex

The Optex TXI Series is a series of outdoor detectors that combine curtain detection from a mounting height of up to four metres with high detection accuracy. The series is specially developed for high mounting and uses Optex's patented Triple And Logic, where several detection criteria must be met before an alarm is generated. Together with adjustable detection area, look-down zone and pet immunity, the technology reduces the risk of unwanted alarms. The result is flexible and reliable alarm protection for facades, entrances and other critical outdoor areas.

Product: Superior Hub G3 Jeweller
Company: Ajax Systems

Superior Hub G3 Jeweller is the hub of the first fully wireless burglar alarm system certified according to EN 50131 Grade 3. It makes it possible to use wireless technology even in high-risk situations where Grade 3 systems traditionally required wiring. The solution combines advanced protection against interference with redundant communication paths, up to 60 hours of battery backup and support for up to 250 devices. The result is Grade 3 security with faster, easier and more flexible installation.
