Assa Abloy appoints new EMEA access control business development director

London, UK

Russel Wagstaff begins new role at Assa Abloy

Assa Abloy Group has appointed Russell Wagstaff as Access Control Business Development Director for the EMEA region. He is responsible for managing key relationships with security industry OEMs, with a particular focus on Assa Abloy’s Aperio wireless access control product range.

Part of Russell’s work will involve ensuring product and platform developments at Assa Abloy match and anticipate what this fast-moving market demands. OEM partnerships are especially important for Aperio, as these wireless locks are designed to integrate seamlessly with many leading security and building management systems.

Russell has previously directed the development of Aperio technology, including on the successful release of the faster, more powerful v3 platform upgrade. In addition to Assa Abloy Group companies, he has worked in senior positions for Controlsoft and for Stanley Security Solutions Europe, where he led the launch of the Ipac access control solution, awarded access control product of the year at Ifsec 2008.

“We are delighted to have such an established industry expert working with our key OEM partners,” says Chris Bone, Vice President Digital and Access Solutions at Assa Abloy EMEA. “Russell has held many other senior roles with leading access control and security companies: he is someone who knows our industry inside out, and will bring his unique knowledge and experience to nurturing some of our most important relationships.”
