New Security Event reveals success rate

Birmingham, UK

The Security Event (TSE) made its debut at the NEC, Birmingham 2 weeks ago and, according to the organisers, it has been hailed a success by both visitors and exhibitors, cementing its position as a premier destination for the UK commercial and residential security market.

This first edition of the Security Event was launched at the NEC in Birmingham and ran for 3 days from 9th to 11th April, 2019. Alongside its already established cousins, The Fire Safety Event, The Health and Safety Event and The Facilities Event, The Security Event complemented them well and with a marketing tag line of  “designed by the industry, for the industry,” set itself a very high bar for success.

"Designed by the industry" is a direct reference to the fact that in addition to the organisers, the co-founding members of the show were major industry players -  Anixter, Assa Abloy, Avigilon, Comelit, Honeywell, Tdsi, Texecom, Tyco and Videcon, and they all helped to set the foundations on which the event was built.

John Davies the Managing Director and owner of Tdsi summed up the founding partners thoughts when he said, “the ability to work with the show organisers to properly shape the event to what our needs and objectives are for a show like this, was extremely refreshing and has been incredibly rewarding. For once we are being listened to.”

Commenting on the venue at the Birmingham, NEC, Jarod Booth, Strategic Relationship Manager, Security at Anixter said, "There is a gap in terms of opportunities to connect with integrators, end-users and installers outside of London and the South of England, and we feel that the location of The Security Event helped bridge that gap."

With 100+ world leading brands taking part and 5,912 visitors in attendance, TSE became a premier meeting point for the security industry. The organisers have declared that many exhibitors reported that the show exceeded their expectations, with significant numbers of successful business sales and connections made.

In addition to the exhibition, an extensive and wide-ranging content programme of presentations and workshops by leading industry figures was a major highlight, with many sessions standing room only and plenty of constructive exchanges between speakers and audience.

Due to the overwhelming success of this inaugural exhibition, plans are already being put in place to make the 2020 edition even bigger and the most comprehensive showcase to date.  Next year's event will take place at the NEC, Birmingham from the 28th - 30th April 2020.
