New Mifare programming tool from Tdsi

Poole, Dorset

Access control specialist Tdsi has launched a new configuration and programming tool to support its established range of Mifare cards and readers.
Allowing users to simply and easily programme their Mifare cards, this new tool enables the card sector and key information to be selected, such that the user’s own information will be written into their nominated sector for any cards to be encoded – putting full control and flexibility into the hands of the user.

Furthermore, when used with the company’s Mifare mullion reader, the system may be used to create a user-defined configuration. Programming cards for the reader can be created and the readers configured to the customers requirements. Cards may then be programmed with users’ specific access numbers for their nominated sectors and keys.

Windows-based, the licensed application provides a simple user interface, with the card programming being carried out through a USB-connected Mifare desk-top reader/ writer which connects to a standard PC. In line with all Tdsi access control solutions, the system is easy to install and use and operation of the system is fast and straightforward.

Users can elect to manually write numbers; use the chip serial number to populate the chosen sector key; or to draw a sequential number from the system database (ensuring no duplicates and straightforward record maintenance). Whichever protocol is used, 1k or 4k Mifare cards are simply put on the reader to write information to them.

The configuration tool allows users to simply check, read, write and erase data and also features a simple help facility for users. The useful ‘check card’ function allows users to identify whether the card is blank – or if data has already been written to sectors. At this stage, users can also confirm via a simple graphic representation that the card is free (and not locked) and, assuming it is available to use, confirms the card type, the chip serial number and whether any card key numbers have already been written to it.

The Mifare Configuration Tool and Programmer is available as a complete kit - including software, reader/ writer and connections - everything the user needs to effectively operate the system.
