National airport deploys APGS as part of infrastructure upgrade

Wichita, Ks

As part of a commitment to continued investment in infrastructure, the Wichita Dwight D Eisenhower National Airport (ICT) has selected the Park Assist Solution to modernise its parking operations with an automated parking guidance system (APGS).

The deployment reflects the airport's ongoing investment in innovative solutions that improve convenience for travelers while providing airport staff with powerful operational insights and greater visibility into parking assets.

"Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport has earned a reputation for delivering an exceptional travel experience while continuing to experience remarkable growth," said Jeff Sparrow, Regional Sales Manager at TKH Security. "We're honoured that ICT selected the Park Assist Solution to support its vision for the future. By combining intelligent parking guidance with real-time operational data, the airport is investing in technology that will benefit both passengers and airport personnel for years to come."

The project will encompass the airport's four-level parking garage, covering 1,200 parking spaces, including 793 covered and 407 open-air spaces. This installation will centre around the M5 Smart-Sensor which can monitor up to six parking spaces with greater than 99% occupancy detection accuracy while providing real-time space availability. By guiding drivers directly to open parking spaces with intuitive LED indicators, the system helps travellers park up to 63% faster, reducing search times, improving traffic flow, and creating a more efficient arrival experience from the moment they enter the airport.

The system will be powered by the INX-Core Software Suite, delivering real-time parking occupancy data, analytics, and management tools that help optimize parking operations and improve the overall traveller experience.

In addition to intelligent parking guidance, the system will include several integrated solutions designed to enhance both customer convenience and operational efficiency, including:

  • Park Finder: Uses license plate recognition (LPR) technology to help travelers quickly locate their parked vehicles
  • Park Alerts: Delivers real-time notifications that support parking management, operational awareness, and policy enforcement
  • OPS Command+ API: Enables real-time parking data to be shared with airport systems and digital platforms, supporting more informed operational decision-making

Together, these technologies will provide airport staff with important insights while helping travelers spend less time searching for parking and more time focused on their journey.

The project also aligns with the airport's long-term vision outlined in its Airport Master Plan, which is focused on ensuring ICT is well positioned to accommodate future growth while continuing to provide a high-quality passenger experience.

"As airports continue to evolve, parking plays an increasingly important role in shaping the overall passenger experience," Sparrow added. "We're excited to partner with ICT as they continue investing in smart infrastructure that enhances convenience, improves operational efficiency, and supports the airport's continued success."

Construction is now underway, with the Park Assist Solution poised to help Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport deliver a smarter, more connected parking experience that supports both today's travelers and tomorrow's growth.
