Grant scheme helps Uvalde schools gain gun detection technology

Leesburg, Va

Three years after the tragic Robb Elementary School shooting, gun detection specialists, Omnilert are now part of a renewed effort to enhance school safety in Uvalde.

Through the company's new Safe Haven Grant Program, the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) will received a grant for $400,000, enabling a three-year, district-wide deployment of the Omnilert AI-powered visual gun detection system—at no cost to the district.

Omnilert's expertise in AI has roots in the U.S. Department of Defense and DARPA related to real-time target recognition and threat classification. That military focus on high reliability and precision carried through to the development of the company's AI threat detection, which goes beyond identifying guns to finding active shooter threats.

This innovative technology transforms standard security cameras into rapid, intelligent sentinels that can identify weapons the moment they’re brandished and trigger an immediate, multi-layered response.

Additionally, thanks to Omnilert's partnership with BCD,  they are able to equip Uvalde with a proactive safety solution that helps save precious seconds—and potentially lives.
