Genetec Inc. will showcase its latest investigation capabilities in Security Center SaaS at NRF Protect 2026, taking place this week at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, Texas.

The company will demonstrate how retailers can investigate incidents that increasingly span multiple stores, systems, and camera vendors, helping security and loss prevention teams connect evidence faster across distributed locations.

Retail investigations often begin with limited information, such as a partial description, approximate timeframe, vehicle, or recurring behaviour pattern, and can quickly expand across stores, regions, and systems. For large retailers, disconnected tools and manual video review slow investigations.

Security Center SaaS brings investigation workflows into a unified, cloud-managed physical security platform, enabling retail security, asset protection, and loss prevention teams to move from initial discovery to case resolution with greater speed and clarity.

Faster investigations across distributed retail environments

With the new capabilities, investigators can search video across multiple locations and camera brands using natural language descriptions, including clothing brands, vehicle make and models, objects, activities, locations, or timeframes. Natural language search help teams quickly validate events, refine results, and focus on relevant activity. Investigators can also follow people and vehicles across scenes, visualise movement patterns, and better understand how incidents unfolded across locations.

Connected case-building for collaboration with external stakeholders

The platform also supports structured case-building by organising video clips, snapshots, tags, and related evidence into connected investigations with chronological storyboards. AI-assisted description summaries help teams document findings more efficiently, improve collaboration with law enforcement and internal stakeholders, and reduce time spent manually reviewing.

“Retailers are facing increasingly complex security challenges, from organised retail crime and shrink to in-store violence and investigations that span multiple locations,” said Scott Thomas, National Director for Signature Brands at Genetec Inc. “With the new investigation capabilities in Security Center SaaS, retailers can move faster from a partial description or initial incident report to connected evidence and actionable findings. This helps loss prevention and security teams build stronger cases, improve coordination, and resolve incidents more efficiently.”

Security Center SaaS supports both cloud-based and hybrid deployments, giving retailers flexibility to modernise security operations across stores, distribution centres, and corporate locations. The platform unifies video management, access control, intrusion, automation, forensic search, and investigation workflows within a single interface.
