Assa Abloy proclaims Agta Record acquisition a success

Stockholm, Sweden

In 2020, Assa Abloy made one of its largest deals in company history when it acquired Agta Record Group.

Now almost three years later, Markus Kast, Head of Business Segment Pedestrian for Entrance Systems, proclaims the acquisition a success, and explains how the company's integration brought the best of both sides together.

As Markus put it during a recent investor conference, "governance is absolutely crucial" in a process integration. The project had “very strong governance" because a steering committee consisting of senior managers from both sides was established early on.

The acquisition had a dedicated Integration manager in place to coordinate the many moving parts of the merger, including human resources, information technology, marketing, sales, cross-selling, research and development, production, and legal and financial matters.

The integration process was also informed by cultural studies done to ensure that employee input was taken into account.

“What we wanted to do and what we did in this integration journey is we tried to get the best out of both,” Markus explained when presenting to investors and analysts at the recent Capital Markets Day.
