Stadtwerke Speyer in the Rhineland, Germany, has installed approximately 300 Cliq locking cylinders to secure sites including heating plants, waste management facilities, harbours and commuter ferries.

Security at Stadtwerke Speyer is paramount. The company runs the infrastructure that keeps a large Rhineland town on the move, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. To secure services to the town’s 50,000 residents, the company turned to Cliq.

When  asked, "Why Cliq? “ - Ralf Lange, security officer at Stadtwerker Speyer said. "Cliq makes our daily work much easier, thanks to its flexibility.”

It is now quick and straightforward for security staff to reprogramme cylinders when access rights need to be changed. A lost key presents no security risk: staff simply de-authorise it, and issue a replacement on demand. The Cliq Web Manager software allows Stadtwerke Speyer staff to generate instant audit trails and track the use of individual locks or keys.

A Cliq locking system is also wireless. Locks power up when a Cliq key is inserted. Keys just need a standard battery, delivering further cost savings for Stadtwerke Speyer.

“There’s no margin for error when a utility provides so many vital services. One big advantage of Cliq is that it has already proven itself in the field,” says Alexander Kroll, Product Manager Mechatronic Locking Cylinder at Assa Abloy Germany. “Cliq mechatronic locks secure utilities and other important infrastructure sites all over Europe, now including plants and services in and around Speyer.”
