The system operates through the easy Graphical User Interface of the Smart Client. View live or recorded images from a potentially huge number of cameras via multi-monitor support, customizable views, and unlimited numbers of floating windows. Digital zoom allows detail views while still recording the full views. Fast-search by time periods with the Timeline Browser. Audio and matrix support are included, too.
The solution is also able to run as a Windows service, compliant with today's IT environments, which means that the surveillance system re-engages automatically if there's a power failure or similar operational interruption. XPE 6.0 supports Active Directory for user authorization and authentication, greatly easing setup and maintenance. Application Program Interfaces are available in a Milestone Software Development Kit for integration with other systems and devices like Point-Of-Sale, Automatic Teller Machines, or Access Control.
