Wavestore introduce 16 channel Expander panel with loop-through

Hayes, Middlesex (UK)

Wavestore's new BNC Expander panel with loop-through provides a practical, as well as cost-effective method of adding BNC inputs to a Wavestore recording solution.

Designed to be installed at the rear of a video recording equipment rack, the Expander panel provides for 16 video inputs and 16 buffered loop-through outputs with auto-switching.

“We have designed the BNC Expander panel with the installer very much in mind,” said Chris Williams, Director of Wavestore. “We have, for example, provided a range of rear-panel socket modules on plug-in daughter cards, to provide compatibility with many different types of capture cards, whilst Expander panels can be stacked to support both 32 channel or twin eight channel capture cards. We have also avoided using pig-tail connectors and as a result, cable management is easy, robust and tidy.”

Although primarily designed for use with Wavestore recording solutions, subject to the correct plug-in daughter card being specified, the Expander panel will also support analogue recorders sourced from other manufacturers.

The Expander panel can be easily installed as connection to the recording device is via just a single cable. A useful benefit of the design is that the loop-through function will continue to operate when the video recorder is detached for servicing. This allows control room operators to continue to view live images until the recorder is re-installed or replaced by a back-up recorder. There is also the option for the Expander panel to be connected directly to a stand-alone video analytics unit.

Loop-through output on all 16 channels is achievable without the need for a video distribution amplifier, whilst two spot-monitor outputs are available if supported by the capture card.

The Expander panel can be run directly from 12v DC or an International auto-ranging power supply.
