Vista launch Quantum 8 and 16 channel DVRs with built in DVD drive

Reading (UK)

Vista has announced the release of an 8 and 16 channel version of the popular Quantum DVR with built in DVD drive.

The Quantum combines many of the features characteristic of high-end DVR solutions whilst retaining a clear focus on the needs and priorities of smaller installations. Now with 4, 8 or 16 channel inputs, the Vista Quantum is available in three models varying with the capacity of the unit's hard disk.
With its MPEG 4 compression, choice of hard disk sizes, advanced alarm and recording options, Vista Quantum represents a highly effective and flexible range of DVRs with export of images to flash drive or the on-board DVD.
Simultaneous record, playback, background image archiving and remote viewing is available with no loss of record performance, and comes with up to 500Gb storage in one unit. The units can display either a full screen picture or quad, 9 way or 16 way displays. The DVR has variable recording functionality at up to 200 images per second, normal and time-lapse modes, alarm inputs, motion detection and time schedule events.
Because the Quantum uses conditional MPEG4 and not full frame compression, as used by other machines, it recorders a greater amount of information onto a smaller disc space, giving up to 100 frames per second. Image quality is a superior 2CIF for the price range meaning that quality does not have to be sacrificed when working to a tight budget.

According to the supplier, the Quantum series represents compelling value where high quality, images are required at a cost-effective price, for example, for a smaller retail application but also when users want to ensure that continuous or time-lapse information is captured. Vista underlines also the benefits when the user has the requirement for different recording speeds in different cameras within the same installation.
Other advantages are when flexible storage is required - the USB archive allows for DVD, CD, HDD and pen drive storage. Quantum is also a suitable choise when the user would like to create a network over a web browser such as internet explorer. a large amount of video is required for download - the on-board DVD allows for over six times the storage compared with a CD.
"The Quantum is recognised in the marketplace as having no compromise on function or quality, but simply extends to the smaller installation the benefits of high quality digital image surveillance that are now accepted as the norm amongst the mainstream of larger installations," declares Andrew Pigram, Vista Brand Director.
"By releasing the 8 and 16 channel versions, we've increased the flexibility of the DVR and made even more applications accessible to the smaller user."
