Vision-based people counter enhances security surveillance

Taipei, Taiwan

The Historical Memorial Hall in Taipei city, Taiwan, draws averagely two to three thousand visitors in every single day. To enhance its security surveillance with the dual concerns of marketing as well as flow management, the manager of the Memorial Hall chose Huper Lab's vison-based intelligent People Counter solution for their real-time environment security control within their project budget.
For instantly managing crowds and turning visitor data into business intelligence, the GCC, a local leading solution provider in Taiwan, designed in the Huper Lab’s vision-based people counter solution that offered with the integration of statistics analysis system for the entry points of the Historical Memorial Hall. Mr. Chang, Project Manager of GCC, points out, “This is a good example site of installing a people counting system at a sightseeing attraction. We installed analogue cameras above every entry of the building to capture people flow data; furthermore, we integrated Huper Lab’s people counter system with the back-end server of the system for detailed analysis. By connecting to the LED signage, the most updated number of visitors traffic in the building will be shown right away.”

Huper Lab claim that their vision-based people counter has higher accuracy that the other systems available on the market today. The vision-based people counting solution can allocate and count each person from the crowd (by walking side by side, or in a crowd as they pass in and out at the same time with accuracy of up to 90%. The people counter solution can be scheduled by day, by week, or by month. The captured data, via the people counting server, can be imported to the back-end system to generate detailed information, such as RPS statistics, and the data can be accessible remotely without area limitations for the user's greater convenience. No matter whether using either CCTV or network cameras, Huper Lab’s people counter is easy to install and be integrated with existing surveillance systems without extra hardware costs.

Based on the high accuracy of raw data, its detailed analysis feature helps the managers of the Memorial Hall to get more understanding about visitor satisfaction and consumer behaviour, to improve and evaluate the whole marketing performance of various activities with clear statistics, and then adjust their strategies accordingly. They can therefore, for example, moderate air conditioning in the building to ensure good ventilation based on the change of visitor flow.

Mr. Chang, Project Manager of GCC said "In comparison with general surveillance solutions, huperVision’s video analytics not only secures people’s properties but also provides business insights for different industries."
