Three megapixel cameras with distinctive features
Herlev, Denmark
Ernitec's new megapixel cameras provide for the growing demand for IP surveillance solutions. Vice president, sales Henrik Falshøj explains this increasing demand: "In video surveillance, the most important performance criterion is the ability to best recognize details in a scene. This is what continues to drive us in the professional security market from lower resolution to high resolution megapixel cameras. Ernitec's aim has been to develop a product line that would deliver imaging performance and features superior to conventional analogue cameras at a competitive price. Our new megapixel cube and box cameras live up to these expectations."
The megapixel box cameras come in the following two models: EIP5600C-M, colour version and the EIP5600DN-M, day-night version. The EIP4200 cube camera may discreetly be placed in small nooks and corners. All three cameras provide a highly detailed image up to 1.3 megapixel resolution and can achieve a maximum frame-rate of 8 frames per second at 1280 x 1024 resolution.
Other main features include:
- Low-light performance
- Built-in F4.2 mm / F1.8 MP lens
- MPEG-4 SP / MJPEG compression
- Two-way audio
The EIP5600 box cameras are supported by Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) technology. This extends the already broad functionality of Ethernet by supplying reliable DC power over the same cables that currently carry Ethernet data. This has obvious benefits such as cost reduction due to the need for only one Ethernet cable for supplying both power and data, flexibility regarding camera installation and re-location, and lastly reliability as power may be more easily supplied from a centralized uninterruptible power supply (UPS) or battery backup.
Director of product marketing Carine Néagoé explains why an end-user should consider megapixel systems. "Various security goals require different solutions. Besides night-time and colour sensitivity, there are three main surveillance categories. Firstly, we have general surveillance applications where you don't need detail, but need to verify a happening. This could simply be detecting a person in a restricted area, so you can respond quickly. Secondly, forensic applications are where you need to see, record and recognize images like faces or articles. Lastly, high detail applications, where you need to clearly see a face or identify the prices on a receipt. Ernitec's product line can cater for all these resolution requirements with our newest surveillance technology."
The Ernitec megapixel cameras are aimed at the retail market. The megapixel camera lenses can be replaced with other Ernitec megapixel lenses such as the varifocal lenses to meet special requirements.
