Smartair enhanced with extra layer of security

Irun, Spain

Behind its sleek, brushed steel design, the code-and-card escutcheon from Smartair packs extra layers of security. This slimline addition to the Tesa wireless access-control range works with both a 4-digit entry code and RFID smartcards.

"The new Smartair escutcheon was designed to blend in with the aesthetics of a modern office or public building,” says Mikel Gaztañaga, Product Manager at Tesa. "It has all the serious security features common to our Smartair range—plus a little extra.”

The escutcheon offers three levels of user authentication: it can be opened by code only, by RFID-enabled smartcard only, or can require both to permit the access. Smartair from Tesa is compatible with all leading RFID technologies, including Iclass by HID, Mifare Classic and Desfire.

For ease of use in low light, keypad digits are illuminated—glowing blue when the user is entering a code, green when access is permitted, and red when entry is refused.

As with every component in the Smartair range, the new escutcheon is wire-free, easy to install, and battery operated.
