Luis Hernandez, sales manager with Siqura for Latin America, sees the award as a special recognition for contractor Telematica Lefic, the system integrator, and for Siqura, as a subcontractor engaged for a substantial part of the project. “We have supplied 203 pan-tilt-zoom dome cameras, 300 fixed box cameras and 100 of them for license plate recognition analytics. Also, the VDG Sense video management software, 6 Videowall servers and 15 mainframe computer servers.”
The results from the first year of operation are promising, as given by police Chief Gilberto Loya and reported by Mexican online news site ‘Entre Lineas’: “… 42% fewer victims of intentional homicides, 18% fewer theft of accessories and vehicle objects, 24% fewer vehicle thefts, a 30% reduction in the frequency of home theft and 11% less theft of people”.
Luis Hernandez: “The second phase of the Platform is now being implemented, with an additional 550 state-of-the-art cameras to be installed at 200 strategic points throughout the city. Mexico, unfortunately, has a great need for safety and security and, in this way, Siqura also contributes to making the country more safe and secure – regardless of the commercial interest. We are very pleased that the performance of our Siqura equipment exceeds expectations in the high-temperature and high-dust conditions that characterise Mexico.”
