Service for remote video surveillance

Palo Alto, California (USA)

In an effort to provide software-as-a-service for the security industry, Eptascape is launching GotoMyCamera, a Web 2.0 service for individuals and small businesses using network cameras and broadband connections for remote video surveillance. Rendering surveillance web-based and remotely and ubiquitously accessible, GotoMyCamera achieves affordability and availability for general video surveillance deployments for anyone.

Among the assumptions behind GotoMyCamera is that ubiquitous connectivity and cloud computing provide the resources for every advanced camera to replace most traditional video security equipment and bypass traditional central station monitoring for alarms notification. Most security products are cumbersome and have too many features for effective deployment. GotoMyCamera is a service that applies Eptascape's intelligent event detection with web accessible ease of use, while eliminating the complexity of traditional video surveillance system. The product is intelligent video surveillance for everyone with access to the internet and a network camera.

GotoMyCamera requires no hardware or software installation (other than network cameras); can grow indefinitely; and is priced on overall storage consumption. GotoMyCamera takes full advantage of camera functions for motion detection and event-driven recording to store video on Amazon S3 storage, which makes the video accessible through the service and eliminates any need to purchase recording equipment. Real-time notifications to receive alarm signals are sent via the Internet to any connected devices.

With more cameras capable of detecting relevant real-time or stored events by using video analysis--a technology Eptascape pioneered--GotoMyCamera is a complete, efficient, and economical model to affect a full surveillance service that stores video from surveillance cameras anywhere while effectively monitoring any designated remote location.

Besides achieving greater efficiency and significant cost reduction for intelligent video surveillance, GotoMyCamera addresses legal storage requirements with new economics of virtual space. Video storage already comprises the most expensive component of digital surveillance, and today these volume requirements are stated in terms of weeks and months, though retention times are about to increase by law to years and decades. Storage in such volumes is staggering to consider, impossibly cumbersome and prohibitively expensive.

"Eptascape is delivering an efficient alternative to prevailing video surveillance systems, so security investments can be better directed to the acquisition of more intelligent cameras and faster connections," said Eptascape founder and CEO Marco Graziano.

GotoMyCamera leverages the multi-billion dollar Amazon investment in scalable, highly available cloud computing and storage. During the beta testing, GotoMyCamera will support Axis cameras and cameras using the Eptascape events detection system with more models to be accommodated with demand.
