Seetec updates video management software

Philippsburg, Germany

With series 5.3 of its SeeTec 5 Video Management Software, SeeTec is showcasing a new product generation. The current Release 5.3.2 contains a host of new features in comparison to its predecessor, the 5.2 Series.

Through the use of 64-bit technology, the new software version is even more powerful. On the server side in particular, the use of 64-bit architecture gives significantly improved resource utilisation. This is shown specifically by the fact that per server, the software can now handle an increased storage volume as well as more cameras and terminal devices, than in the 32-bit version.

Another new feature is Multi-Streaming that results in an even more flexible deployment of the SeeTec software, through the parallel usage of several independent data streams per camera. In this way, a smooth, higher quality video stream, e.g. H.264 with 25 fps, can be used for the live display while image recording on the server is done using a lower frame rate in a different format, e.g. MJPEG with 2 fps. The significant added value of Multi-Streaming with SeeTec, lies in the option of being able to assign completely different video streams to individual user profiles. If, for example, the user is working at a SeeTec Client that accesses the SeeTec Server through a narrow band connection like UTMS, a video stream that suits the available transmission performance is used. The result is smooth images with virtually no time delay.

SeeTec has not just optimised the transmission of image data, but also significantly simplified the evaluation of them. Particularly with large installations, it is often no longer possible to make useful evaluations of the live images, because the concentration spans of the security staff start to reduce after just a short period of visual monitoring. Intelligent video analysis from SeeTec significantly reduces the work load of the security staff and can bring a marked improvement in the recognition rate. Until now, different analytical components could be used, based on alarm triggers in SeeTec. The new release on the other hand has complete and extensive integration. The parameterisation in the Analysis Module is no longer necessary. All functions can be configured simply and directly through the SeeTec user interface. SeeTec video analysis is available in two versions: The SeeTec Analytics Premium Module offers standard analysis functions, allowing users for example, to define Areas of Interest and virtual tripwires as well as facilitating object classification. The SeeTec Analytics Enterprise Module allows one to use the whole range of intelligent video analysis tools. It includes additional rules that allow users to recognise objects that have been left unattended or that have been removed as well as persons who are loitering. Existing SeeTec installations can also be enhanced by the addition of the video analysis modules.

A reworking of the user interface means that the SeeTec software is now even more intuitive and quick to use. The control of many functions has been significantly simplified and the design of the displays has been improved. Another new feature is the frameless display of camera images, which particularly in combination with the current Full HD devices, enables a brilliant display of the image data.
