Scati protects Mexican bank nationwide

La Palma, Mexico

The implementation resulted in substantial improvements in Inbursa’s security system, as the transmission of images are much faster, even over narrow bandwidths.

Mexican bank with over 300 branches implements Scati solution nationwide over a two year period

The Inbursa Financial Group, headquartered in La Palma, Mexico recently conducted a major overhaul of their entire corporate security system.  After an extensive evaluation of various brands, the Group's security department finally concluded that the best solution would be the dedicated security platform for financial institutions from Scati.

Inbursa Financial Group, founded in 1965, is one of the largest banking companies in Mexico. It has over 7,000 employees working in the 325 offices throughout the country. This financial institution also has 730 ATMs around the country, used by over 11.2 million customers.

This banking institution's Security Department faces the challenge of controlling all of its offices over a narrow bandwidth and implementing the SEPROBAN regulation, mandatory in Mexico. The VMS (Video Management System) platform they used in the past no longer met the technological challenges faced by their modern business. As a result the security department carried out an in-depth evaluation of 15 leading VMS brands over 5 years. Finally, the company selected Scati to migrate the previously implemented system to a platform based solution enabling substantial improvements in management and maintenance of the pool of video recorders.

The Scati solution for financial institutions consists of a wide range of tools that can be used by the bank to perform effective, centralised management of the entire pool of recorders. In fact, Inbursa Financial Group manages its pool from their two monitoring centres with approximately 10 workers. They monitor both the offices and the corporate building in Palmas.  Despite the great distances between the offices, Scati provides Inbursa with a series of solutions used for video monitoring (Scati Wall), use and management of alarms and remote maintenance of the financial institution's security system (Scati Watcher).

In the first stage of implementation, over 80 Scati Vision recording platforms and 25 IP cameras were installed over the currency-counting tables. The Scati Vision recorders have a highly effective proprietary video transmission protocol that optimises bandwidth use, providing access from the Control Centre on narrow bandwidth networks. To ensure high image-definition, 3 megapixel Scati Eye cameras were selected. This provides a clear view of the value displayed by the currency-counting machines, thus discouraging internal fraud. All offices can be controlled this way.

Via correct use of these solutions, the Security Department can count on the availability of the video feed and the delivery of images according to the SEPROBAN regulation. Complete video availability will also facilitate forensic work after any incident.

The Scati Vision platforms are powerful multi-tasking software applications which, when integrated with cameras and decoders, provide a comprehensive video-surveillance solution for the branch network.

The implementation of the Scati platform over a two year period resulted in substantial improvements in Inbursa’s security system, as the transmission of images are much faster, even over narrow bandwidths. Therefore, the financial institution complies with the SEPROBAN regulation and can solve everyday incidents more effectively, with regard to both investigation and prevention.

With the Scati tools, the operators in the control centre are capable of detecting errors in the devices and solving them more effectively and completely, among other benefits.  For the organisation this not only guarantees a faster, more effective response to incidents, but also prevents future incidents, improves its corporate image and, therefore, increases the confidence of its customers.

"The implementation of the Scati video-surveillance system has enabled us to connect with the DVR quickly and view the images in a fast-paced and effective manner. The Scati platform guarantees the availability and delivery of the images.  This is of vital importance, not only with regard to SEPROBAN but also for forensic investigation of any incidents.  This enables us to have video as a central element in all branches as a tool to verify any monetary transactions in our daily operations. This control is rendered easier thanks to the amazing quality of the images provided by the 3 megapixel IP cameras". Explained Mr L.I. Pedro Villanueva Meléndez, Senior Manager of Security and Investigations at the Inbursa Financial Group.
