Saab awarded by Frost & Sullivan

Stockholm, Sweden

Saab has been awarded the Frost & Sullivan Award for Technology Innovation. Saab was declared the winner by being a company that has demonstrated technological superiority within the industry.

The 2008 European Border and Maritime Security Technology Innovation Award was received by two very proud Saab representatives at a London banquet 20 November.

"We are really proud of this award. It not only confirms the strength of our market offering within civil security, it also shows that we have the expertise and experience needed to compete on the market," says Lars Jernbäcker, program manager for civil security at Saab.

Saab has been working at the forefront of technology, developing solutions for more than seventy years. Based on net centric technology, Saab offers solutions that can improve flows, secure facilities and detect dangers before they develop into real threats or disasters.

"It is rewarding to receive this kind of acknowledgement. It surely proves that the net centric security concept is needed by the market. We already have a number of important showcase customers who are using our technology in Sweden, whilst new ones are continually showing interest in our offer," says Joachim Hammersland, director of critical infrastructure protection at Saab Security.

The motivation for choosing Saab

"The company has developed a concept for civil security; Net Centric security concept that is applicable in border surveillance elements including blue borders and maritime security, among other areas. This concept results in a complete and fully integrated border management solution for land and sea borders. The core of the concept is the service oriented architecture (SOA) which is based on open architecture. This allows other surveillance equipment to be integrated easily into the common infrastructure. This technology secures borders from potential threats and defines the level of protection to high risk areas with dense surveillance systems, multi-sensors, watchtowers and UAV's. Furthermore, using this technology, solutions can be applied in the most difficult topographical areas especially in southern and Eastern Europe."
