Raytec helps securing new-built primary school

Northumberland, UK

Construction work on a new-build primary school in a built-up residential area is being carried out securely and safely thanks to an IP-CCTV system enhanced by infra-red lighting from Raytec.

Because of the location of the building site, at West Jesmond near Newcastle, the construction company was not allowed to use visible white light illumination, which would have caused a light-pollution nuisance for neighbouring properties.

Yet high quality night time CCTV coverage was regarded as essential in order to protect the site from intrusion and to guard against the risk of youngsters venturing onto the site and being injured.

Mac Security, which specialises in leading-edge electronic security systems, designed a robust, IP-based security solution incorporating external PIR intruder detectors and the latest Raymax infra-red illuminators from Raytec.

The Raymax RM200 and RM300 units deliver optimum quality, even illumination for the CCTV cameras. They are energy efficient and long lasting, and, crucial in this application, their light is invisible to the human eye.

"The client is delighted with the level of protection that we've been able to give them - we have installed illuminators and cameras at strategic points all round the perimeter to give complete coverage of any activity on the site," explains Craig Foster, partner at Mac Security.

"Raytec's units are proving very robust, the construction company security staff have a clear view of all areas - in addition, management can view the site remotely via IP. The local authority is also satisfied because our system hasn't caused any problem with light pollution."

The RAYMAX 200 is a high power Infra-Red illuminator perfectly suited to long range applications or dome camera installations requiring wide angle lighting. Vandal-resistant, it boasts a range of up to 300 metres.

The RAYMAX 300 reaches even further, with a range of up to 370 metres.

Both units feature Adaptive Illumination, which allows the installer to adjust the angle of the light projection from a single unit to fit the specific demands of any installation.

Adjustment is quick and convenient and any angle up to 180 degrees (depending on model) is easily selectable.

Adaptive Illumination is patent pending technology available exclusively from Raytec.

"Mac Security has a reputation for delivering reliable security solutions incorporating the latest technology," adds Craig Foster of Mac Security. "With Raytec illuminators we ensure that our customers get best quality image capture at night."
