For the award, QNAP Security offered the Linux-embedded Viostor CMS as it has the ability to manage up to 1,024 channels and is designed as a turnkey solution for centralised monitoring, device management and event management with multiple Viostor NVRs distributed at different locations.  This makes it especially suitable for large-scale surveillance deployments.

Mr. Peace Kuo, Product Manager at QNAP Security, stated "The Viostor CMS is a unified platform for surveillance projects of various sizes.  With the CMS client software installed on their PC, users can easily set up a surveillance centre to efficiently capture each monitored channel."

The Viostore CMS has been designed for easy set up.  It features centralised event management with the support of E-map based event alerts.  Whenever red indicators appear on the E-map, administrators can check the live video of the event to identify the location and take appropriate action. Furthermore, the Viostor CMS provides a customisable monitoring layout for administrators to mix and match the camera views with the e-map in one screen, or to mix static and sequential camera streams in one display.  The flexible central monitoring feature allows for critical channels to be displayed in sequential mode and critical channels to be always on screen.

The Viostor CMS comes with flexible IP camera license scalability, allowing administrators to purchase additional licenses online to expand upto 1024 channels. And, the Viostor CMS coupled with the Viostor NVR hardwares and other required services, such as database SQL server, are built-in to form a surveillance turnkey solution. All these features are engineered to make the QNAP NVR and CMS user-friendly and intuitive.

QNAP develops both the hardware and software solutions in house, tuning the integration to enhance the performance of the CMS system. The Viostor CMS is compatible with the full range of QNAP NVRs which carry firware versions of 4.1.0 or above.  The number of channel licenses can be increased online as the project grows. This provides more flexibility to the project designers and installers.
